Line command

A line consists of two joined points - a start and end point.

Ray and Construction Line

Used for set out work. A ray starts at one point and radiates to infinity. A construction line radiates out in opposite directions from a point.

Creates an entity with a number of line segments. The vertices of the polyline can be altered and various curve fitting options applied via the Properties box. The figures below shows a polyline being used to indicate and informal pond. Selecting the polyline and setting Fill to on is shown.

Polylines This movie illustrates some of the ways in which a polyline entity can be used in landscape drawings.

Regular polygon with varying number of sides.

Complex editable curve.

Draw compound entities such as walls.

Nominate one corner and an opposite corner.

An arc is part of a circle. gCADPlus offers many alternative ways to draw and arc.

the default method to draw a circle is to nominate a center point and then a radius. Other options are possible.

Nominate the long axis and short axis to draw an ellipse.

A single coordinate position in a drawing. The marker to indicate a point can be changed.

Single line, multi line and Windows text can be placed in a gCADPlus drawing.

Closed areas can be hatched with a variety of different hatch patterns. Any hatch pattern file developed for AutoCAD users can be loaded in gCADPlus. This can add to the range of available patterns.

Raster Image

Insert pixel (raster) images such as photographs and scanned material into drawings.

Use for GIS applications - fast loading aerial mapping files.

Insert block from current drawing

Browse blocks already loaded in a drawing.

Insert block from gCADPlus library

When the "Insert block from library" option is selected from the draw menu, you are taken directly to a blocks folder where it is possible to select various library items. A number of different libraries are available.

  • We have supplied more than 100 planting symbols in this standard group. Use the Insert>Library>Standard sequence to select this group. The arrow keys on the keyboard can be used to scroll up and down through the symbol set. The box to the right of the dialog box shows a preview of the block symbol. Symbols can be selected in either dwg or .Vec format.

  • Under the blocks folder you can also choose from planting symbols according to need.

For example the Folder Tall Trees [metric] contains a selection of Tall Tree symbols shown below. These are available in both gCADPlus native .Vec format and as .dwg files.

Each symbol is an appropriate canopy diameter for a tall tree species at 7-10 year of growth and has been drawn on its own layer (TallTree) and with colour set by layer, it is possible to a insert tall tree symbols and adjust to a light weight colour simply by changing the layer colour - understory planting can the be seen through the upper canopy.

Lightweight design

If the impact of the symbol needs to be increased, it is also possible to change the line weight of the symbol or layer.

  • Named plant species

Creates an entity that is easily hatched.

Draws a flexible line that is easily manipulated with sub curves.
